Hi David

When you open the cup playing amped, do you increase your playing volume to compensate for the drop in sound going through the mic, or does the fact that the sound cuts through more make up for the volume loss?

Answer

Great question. Yes to point #2, when you open your cup, the fact that your sound is less muted, the harp actually cuts through better. You can of course play a little bit louder to emphasize that phrase if you wish... try it and record yourself, you'll then hear the effect for what it actually is.
