Hi David. I generally have success with most techniques so far, and my bending is coming along slowly, but with octaves and other splits I am struggling. I've tried just moving my tongue one hole to the right and using a light touch, but I find that when I do have success, when I remove the harp from my mouth in front of a mirror, I realize I have been using the underside tip of my tongue. I've practiced a lot with the TBT and it seems ok, but when I move to the harp, it's again the underside tip of tongue that I ultimately have success with. Do you have a suggestion? I intend to do many more reps with the TBT using the blade of. my tongue with a light touch and hope one day it will translate to the harp.

Hello nlm57. It sounds like

Hello nlm57. It sounds like you're on the right track, using the correct methodology to get it dialed in. Keep doing what you're doing. You can also experiment with placing the harmonica in your mouth with your tongue centered right away, thus getting rid of tongue movement. See if this helps at all. Good luck with this.

Thanks....

very much David. I really appreciate your help. I'll try your suggestion and keep at it. I forgot to add that on the rare occasion that I get a split properly, it falls apart when I transition to the next pair higher, however that is something I can also use the TBT for.

My pleasure. This seems like

My pleasure. This seems like a case of pushing your tongue too hard on the face of the harmonica. With a light touch, the octave should glide from one octave to the other.
