Not able to get a draw note. How do i fix this.

I have the Hohner Special 20 harmonicas. I am now running into my second harmonica where I have lost the sound from a given note. My A harmonica will not give me my draw notes at position 3. Its not saliva that has caused this. What would you recommend I do to try to fix this, short of buying a new harmonica.

Hello Barauch, sorry to hear

Hello Barauch, sorry to hear about your issue. Try this:

  1. Disassemble your harmonica by removing the coverplates, then separating the reedplates from the comb
  2. Hold your draw reed plate up to the light. You should be able to see an equal amount of light peering through the sides and top of the #3 reed. Try plinking the reed--just to be certain. TIP: use magnification
  3. I'm thinking your #3 draw reed twisted off it's axis, just enough, that some part of the reed is hitting the reedplate as it moves (attempts) through the reedplate slot.
