Just double checking, but it looks like (from the marks you made on My Blues at my last lesson) that you don't try to add tremelo on top of a note that's dipped and bent like that--or are you just sparing me for now on that?

Answer

I do commonly add a vibrato to a 3' when held... dipped or not.

What note, in which measure, of what chorus are you speaking of and I'll take a look.

Yes, sometimes I do not bring things like that up, so as not to overwhelm a student when learning a song. I may add that later when a student is putting the finishing touches on a song.

I hope you're having fun!

My Blues, 3rd chorus, 1st

My Blues, 3rd chorus, 1st bar:

+ ' 3' to a 3"

The 4th measure also has a 2" that you did not mark for a tremelo for me: on purpose?

Seems like you left them out on purpose because they're already busy enough (please confirm). It helps me to know that's the plan when it's something I'm resistant to. Then I feel confident that I'm working through the resistance with intention.

Thanks for your guidance,

Anne Marie

Thank you for clarifying. What do you hear in the recorded music (2:19)?

I don't hear a tremelo there

I don't hear a tremelo there (but I do hear a crescendo-same for both the 3'to3" in the 1st bar and the 2" in 4th bar), so I'm puzzled. It seems like one could put a tremelo there if they wanted to, but you don't there. Wonder why, and should I actually restrain myself from trying that there? Is it just your style choice for this particular moment, or is an accepted convention?

Thanks

You're correct. There is no right or wrong... it's what sounds best to you.

Okey. Dokey. But I'll

Okey. Dokey. But I'll practice getting them in everywhere I can, for now...
