That's the original bass line

That's the original bass line from the Stevie Wonder record. Steve Malerbi really shows both chops and stamina playing it on the bass harmonica. (I gave him a breather to gather his strength by playing bass on another number before we got to this one, and he got to solo on chromatic).

As for the rest f us, we discovered just how tricky some of those natural-sounding rhythms are to play. But it was a lot of fun. There's more where that came from. It was out set closer and seemed like a good teaser as a first post to Youtube. Eventually the entire concert will come out on DVD.

Yeah, I recognized it...

I did recognize it from the original, but to hear it on a bass harmonica was a hoot (literally).

It really looked like he had to do some huffing to play that thing. I've never tried a bass harmonica, but it looks and sounds fun.

Loved it. OK. I WILL practice my exercises, if I could get to do the bass with such a group some day. So, see ya.

Steve

They all got some great chops! I don't don't if you guys know or not Steve Malerbi is a great chromatic customizer... one of the best. Also I heard Joe Spiers is offering chromatic work. Can this be confirmed.

Not really........but sorta...

I do some basic stuff for existing customers if they ask. Have done a handful of fully prepared chros for myself and a couple pros, for the heck of it and to see how long it takes, but it's not something I'm offering.

Steve Malerbi is the go-to guy from what I understand! And man that cat can play!

I will likely become more involved with them when I retire from my normal career (I'm a heavy-duty truck technician) in about 6 more years. Right now the diatonics take up most of my remaining time.
