This is great stuff David - informative, to the point and really does cover a lot of stuff. Both the 'lessons' on amps are super. I can hardly wait for the amp stuff at Masterclass weekend to try these out. The link between amp and mic was fascinating!!. What about those amps that have just a tone setting instead of the treble, mid and bass?? Just play with the setting until you find what you like? - almost feel like this is self evident but ......... I'm sure glad there will be Harpgear Double Trouble in San Jose.

This just keeps getting better!!!! Thanks

Glad you like it. The Kalamazoo and Supro in the video just had a tone knob as well... we usually set that very low (the higher it goes, the more treble you get).

Thanks David - I also have a vintage Bogen rebuilt by "Blues Box" and it has volume (I think that's gain??) and a master dial. What's the relationship there?

Masco

My masco has three knobs, tone/on-off, mic, and volume. I haven't figured what the mic knob does and the volume is pretty self explanatory. The amp sounds best with the tone all the way down and the volume just about at 1. The amp is going to be at the Masterclass... Hank, I hope you get a chance to try it. Try both a CR and Crystal element.
