Hi David,

In music theory 2, exercise 2.5, the mixolydian scale, why does Gb = 7.

Hello Paul. G is the Root...

Hello Paul. G is the Root... Gb/F# is the major 7th (7)... and F is the flat-7. The confusion comes when we think "Mixolydian," because you could call F the 7th (because the 7th is normally lowered) and Gb/F# could be labelled as M7 (major 7th... a reminder to raise it from its flat-7th state). I'm good with either.
