Hi David,

I'm finding that I'm not very good at hand writing out music even though I know how to read it.  I'm wondering if there is any software that might make it easier to write out and read & catch my mistakes as I make them.  Do you have any recommendations on that?

Thanks!

Hello Mike. I use Finale,

Hello Mike. I use Finale, which is an expensive program, but they make lesser expensive versions. Take a look at the MakeMusic website and see if they have something to meet your needs. One of the nice things about the program is that it will play what you wrote back for you, so you can hear if what you’re notating sounds close to what you’re looking for.

my experience with MuseScore is very good, on YouTube you will find a lot of tutorials, especially MuseScore Cafe is very informative!

Noteflight is a free we tool which doesn't require any downloads

https://www.noteflight.com

I've used it for simple test scores, not sure how it compares to MuseScore (which I didn't use for writing scores because it requires downloading their software).
