Hi David,

What does C major scale stack mean?

Also, in some of the movement exercise patterns, there are short underlines with the

ends up under 3 notes here and there?  oops..in Ex.1 there is a line under  4 notes, and in exercise 8, the line is

under 2 notes.

Like under 7, 6+, 7 and other combinations?

from,

Patricia Frizzell

(still pretty much a beginner)  thank you...

Answer

Hello Patricia. The C Major Scale Stack is the same information found in Ex 1, but each octave is stacked upon each other (apposed to the exercise being completely horizontal in notation), making it easier to see the relationships of each octave. For Example... when playing 1+ 1 2+ they are the notes C D E. Looking at the next octave directly above it those same notes are found on 4+ 4 5+ and respectively 7+ 8 8+. Some students like to see how Ex. 2 lays out the notes better, it makes more sense for them, especially for moving licks up or down octaves.

The bracketed notes (lines under the tablature) are areas I speak of in the video... so reference those areas of focus in my video lesson.
