In 2nd position, playing in minor, is it ok to slap 6 blow, 3 blow, 4 blow, 4 draw, 5 draw, etc., even though you would be slapping over "no-no" notes? Also, are pulls with 2 blow, 3 draw, 5 blow, etc, in them off limits too?

Answer

You have to use your ear on this... slow slaps are out of the questions... faster are less obvious.

Sometimes in a minor tune the

Sometimes in a minor tune the I chord will go to a 7th chord just before the IV chord as in:

Am A7 - Dm

With the 7th chord lasting either the last beat or last two beats before the IV chord. IF that happens (and certainly it doesn't in all tunes) then you have an opportunity to use all the draw notes from Hole 1 to Hole 5 in the slap. (Why note the Draw 6? Often that note is flatted in this context.)

Similarly, Draw 3 (and 7) may sound OK with a minor V chord. But, as Dave says, your ear has to guide you.
