Hi Dave,

I was wondering what the difference is between the Mic and Instrument Inputs on the old amps from the 50's.  Which one do we want to be plugged into?

Answer

The easy answer is the one that sounds best to you with the particular mic you're using. They're different circuits, and have different sounds... which one sounds best is dictated by the mic you use and other x-factors that surround what makes an amp setting sound good/bad in the particular situation you're using it in.

For a technical answer, ask Skip what the common differences are in his part of the forum.
