Hi Dave, I'm an intermediate player buying my first amp. Have talked to MegaTone and Sonny Jr. What's the difference between the ME-18 and the Super Cruncher?
thx

They are both well built amps, but very different in their approach. The Sonny Jr is based on a Fender Bassman style design and the MegaTone is based on a Masco (1940's tube PA system). The Sonny tends to push (hard-hitting) the sound out and the MegaTone tends to radiate (still distorted, but more buttery) the sound out. I know these may be strange descriptions, but it's how I can best describe their sound. I like the MegaTone personally... good luck making a decision ;-)

Dave, thanks for the

Dave, thanks for the feedback (no pun intended) I think I'm going for a MegaTone. On your youtube endorsements, the 45 sounds way better. This could easiy be due to different cameras and volume etc, but the 45 just sounds unreal. I spoke to Dale and he told me about the 45 10 x 12 combo that isnt on their website yet. I like the fact that the 45 has treble, mid and bass control. For starters I'll be playing at my house at relatively low volume for the neighbors sake. What's your opinion regarding the difference in sound between the two models?

thx

Both the 45 me 18 are both great sounding amps... I don't have a preference personally... go with your gut. I like the smaller size of the 18. By the way, get the Dan Electro Dan Echo pedal or Lone Wolf Delay pedal, they sound really nice with this amp. Have fun!

David, do you still play the

David, do you still play your 45 a lot? I assume you still have it. When do you prefer the 45, and when do you prefer the 18?

Thanks,

Gregg

I sold my 45... I bought a Camaro and the amp literally didn't fit in the car and that's why I purchased the 18.

I can understand that

I can understand that decision. It also wouldn't fit in my car, but would fit in my wife's SUV.

Nice choice on the car!

Thanks, David.
