Kinya: I know you sometimes switch the Marine Band covers for the Special 20 covers when you modify a harp. On all the Harpsmith covers you use a hammer and open the back up. My question is... what is your method for opening the back on the Marine Band covers. I'd like to do a couple of Marine Bands for myself and don't want to spend the money for a Crossover or Deluxe.

Marine Band Covers

Hello Jon,
Good to hear from you.
I build on the "impacting rolling" technique - PVC cutting mat for the anvil surface and 22oz Urethane hammer for the shapping tool - that I use for shaping the back folds of SP20 plates. For MB cover plates, rather than flatten the folds back onto itself, I impact roll the folds over a 1/16'diameter wire (rod) to shape into a crush proof radius. Cool uh?

Call me and let me know how it worked for you.

Thanks

Thanks Kinya for the info. I've done mine on a vise for a long time but I'm going to try the wire.
