Hi Winslow I have got 2 Manji harps 1D 1Bb.Nice harps to play but I have noticed that the 1 hole on both harps are smaller than the rest of the holes, is this the norm or will I have to open them up some how.
Many thanks Ron

Manji hole sizes

Ron - do you mean the holes in the comb? I don't have any Manjis to examine, and pictures don't reveal any obvious difference in the comb holes between Hole 1 and the rest.

f this is what you're talking about, trying to mill out the edge of one of these holes by machine is tricky, as it's easy to snag and break the neighboring comb "tooth". maybe by careful hand application of a file to the left wall of the hole you could widen the hole a bit.

Hole size

Hi Winslow yes it is the comb that I am talking about,It just seems strange that both the harps have the same hole size on the 1.I was thinking of sanding the left hand hole to open it up a bit,
Thanks for your help Ron

Check with Suzuki - maybe it's a manufacturing error

I wonder if you got some harps with a manufacturing error. If so, Suzuki should know about it and they might replace the combs. You might get in touch with Daron Stinton, product manager at Suzuki USA: (800) 854-1594, ext. 148 dstinton@suzukicorp.com or with their main repair guy, Gary Lehmann: gnarlyheman@gmail.com

My one hole is a tad smaller

My one hole is a tad smaller also on the two harps I just ordered (G and D). Interesting. They play nicely though. I will check with Suzuki myself.

correct

Hi,

I have 4 manji's, G, A, C & D and yes the first hole is smaller for all of them, not much and I would not have noticed it if I would not have read it here.
