David,

I've been working my way through the study song Temperature and while I'm still struggling a tad with the transition from CH5 to CH6 and a few other issues in the song, I've gotten to the point where I think with a little bit of focused effort I'd be ready to submit for level 2.

My one question is this, How much do dips weigh into this submission?  I have not yet been able to dip while moving in tempo with the song.  I can futz around on the 2-3-4 holes and get some bends in there, but at tempo I might as well be hunting unicorns.  Clearly I understand that as the studies progress my ability to hit dips, and bends is crutial to sounding good, and getting those bluesy sounds.  But I keep holding off on submitting because I just can't quite get the sounds quite right.

Thanks for all your time and info

Joey

It's good that you're working

It's good that you're working on your dips... they sound great and are used all the time. For this LOA I don't focus on them, it's LOA-L3 where the dips are expected to be more robust. Always feel free to ask, I'm here to help.

Follow up question;  What exercises or things might I do when I'm practicing to improve my bending.

The bending exercises are

The bending exercises are found in the support PDF for each of the bending lessons. There are also MP3 recordings you can download.

It's also good to experiment/figure out basic melodies in 2nd Position, they often contain bends that you have to really focus to play in tune, and since you're familiar with the melodies, you know when they're out of tune (3 3" 2 is Three Blind Mice for example).

Of course us HarpNinja while working on any bending exercises to make sure you're playing in tune.
