L.O.A.8 ACC PLAYING STUDY 8
Hello David,
I'm having trouble understanding what is required of this element of LOA8.
Using the C major scale, the hook that is to be used consists of a 6 blow (G) and a 5 draw (F) in a crotchet and quaver arrangement, first beat of the bar is a rest.
I understand that you require this hook to be used with a jam track in 2nd postion over 4off different example choruses (also 3rd position over 3 choruses) which I'm assuming would be for example:- AAA ABAC AAB AAA with fills?
If this is correct would I use a fragment of the lick to provide a fill?
I'm thinking that the AAA chorus would be the lick (which is a one bar lick) repeated 16 times, but fundamentally I'm stuggling to understand how the other chorus forms could be achieved considering IV and V chords would be needed?
I know I'm being dim on this but can't see it at the mo. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Greg
Hello Greg. I'm not looking for Chorus Forms in the case, I'm looking accompaniment playing.
Focus on how you present the lick... maybe one time with slaps, one time with a flutter on the 5 draw, one time in octaves, etc. Also experiment with adding notes or taking away notes. The goal is to present the hook differently throughout a song, so it stays interesting. Though we're doing more than one would commonly use in a song, you're showing me that you have the skill to come up with ideas.
You're correct in your second post... you'll want to experiment with sequences for the other chords.
Morning Greg. Yes, "the hook in one chorus may be slapped, the hook in another chorus may have octaves." The total length should be around 7 choruses... or more if you're having fun.
Hmmm I think my brain has woken up...perhaps.
Using a sequence of the lick given will produce different notes from the lick given but the G and F of our lick is the b7th and Root so sequence that b7th and Root for the IV and V chord.
Will try this and see how it goes.
regards
Greg
