Enjoying the progress I'm making follwing your program...got a general question though...

I see that for LOA Level 1 test for movement exercises you only ask us to do the major scale. And for the solo harmonica study only examples 1.2, 1.4, and 1.7

However when I look at solo harmonica study 1 it has exercises 1.1 - 2.8

and there are 8 movement exercises even though you are only testing us for 1 exercise...

my question...should we be doing all of those exercises before we take the test or should we just master enough for the test and then move on....it appears that some of those other exercises might be in the study song...but I am not sure...I hope that's clear...thanks...

Hello quincysimpson, I'm glad

Hello quincysimpson, I'm glad you're enjoying your studies. If you go to the LOA page (http://www.bluesharmonica.com/levels-of-achievement) and click on LOA-L1 (http://www.bluesharmonica.com/levels-of-achievement/level-1) you'll see that under Solo Harmonica Study 1 I say, "This is where you develop the skill to play self-accompanied. You can go as deep into this study as you wish, though right now let's focus on examples 1.1 through 1.7." and for Movement Exercises Study 1 – Patterns I say, "Just focus on the all-important C Major Scale right now, from holes 4+ to 10+ on the harmonica."

Each lesson series at BluesHarmonica.com is generally designed to stand alone for players that have the other skill sets needed to do all the lessons in the series. If a student finds themselves lacking in a particular skill, they can go elsewhere on the site to learn about that skill set.

For LOA I pick from the various lessons to make an over-all lesson plan for students at various skill levels. If you're studying a particular lesson and like it, feel free to keep going deeper into the lesson, just be aware that at some point in the lesson series you'll run into material that has elements I have not taught you. When you reach that material you can either stop and wait to catch up to it in the LOA lesson plan, or look on the site where the technique is taught in order to keep on progressing.

For a simple answer to your question, stop at the highest example number I ask for in that particular LOA level.
