Hi David,

I am following level 1 section 2 by the levels of achievement. Now I see under the lessons other exercises than named in the levels of achievement. Why are these lessons not included in the levels of achievement?

Greetings Mariska

Hello Mariska. If you look at

Hello Mariska. If you look at the bottom of each lesson's picture you'll see that they say Support Study. These are not essential to your learning, but lessons that you may also enjoy. Focus on the lesson in the Levels of Achievement, but when you have time, peak at the other lessons.

Tongue blocking

I'm a new bluesharmoinca student (but retired old man) and I used to consider myself a somewhat adept lip purser beginner/intermediate. But, I've never tongue blocked and am trying to start from the very beginning tongue blocking. It is a huge paradigm shift! Is it realistically possible to unlearn lip pursing and re-learn with tongue blocking? I'm looking to find the better tone that I hear in some local players, at least a couple of whom have spent time as students through this site.

Hello Marty, welcome to the

Hello Marty, welcome to the site. It's not really unlearning... learning to tongue block is simply the next step in your journey. I, and many other professional players, like you, also started with puckering because there was no lesson material available that taught the blues. When someone hipped us to how the great players were creating the sounds we've been trying to emulate... all the cool techniques available with tongue blocking... then our journey began unravelling its mysteries. You're now at that point in your journey, and luckily there are no mysteries... I've laid it all out for you. Dig in and enjoy the journey Marty.

Hi Marty

Hey Marty.

As always, I will be more than happy to help you get over that hump in any way I can as well. I remember the frustration all too well... and, since we see each other on a fairly regular basis (at least pre-covid, and I'm sure after), I would like to share any tips I can with you. see you soon I hope.
