Hi David,

I am haveing trouble recording my LOA submission on Garage Band. When I recored I am experiency a latent delay relative to the jam track so it sounds like I am behind the beat when I play back the combined recording. I am using an Ipad and I wonder if you know how to solve this issue or if others have had the same issue?

Just to be sure that the problem wasn't me actually playing behind the beat I have recorded myself with my phone voice memo and I am playing in time to the track. The problem seems to be matching the beat to the uploaded jam track. I tried deleting all tracks and starting over but the problem persists. Thank you for your help.

Best,

Jim

Hello Jim. Unfortunately I

Hello Jim.

Unfortunately I don't own an iPad to experiment with this to figure out. Fortunately this is a very common program, so hopefully someone on the net has run into the same issue.

You could play the backing track from your phone and record on your iPad... that will be plenty good enough quality for me.

Suggestion for Jim

Jim:

Perhaps try running this issue in the General Discussion thread to see what others' experiences have been. I'm fairly dumb about tech stuff, so scratching my head about the latency issue. But then, it may depend on how your backing track and mic are each getting into GarageBand. I have recorded with backing tracks on GarageBand by simultaneously running a backing track from The Amazing Slowdowner AND my harmonica via mic into a Focusrite interface I have, and from there into a single track on GarageBand. Via that method, no latency that I can hear. From my primative perspective, the lack of latency may be because GarageBand is getting everything via just one "hose."

Thanks you for the suggestion

Thanks you for the suggestion that is a good work around. It is funny this issue just started. I did not run into this issue in my prior recordings. I like your solution and will give it a try.
