Hi!

I think this is the place where I can ask about harmonica models.

Hohner 280/64 and Larry Adler Signature 64 - apart from covers and may be the outer box, they are pretty much identical in dimensions. Hohner C-shop says they use identical comb, mouthpiece and slide parts. Do you know if there's any difference in reed work between those two harmonicas? Like Crossover and MB Deluxe have interchangable reeds but they're still different. Is that the case in LAS 64 and 280/64 reed plates?

Thanks!

It's the same harp

At some point in te past the Larry Adler model may have been different from te regular 280, but even with the mid-1950s one I have, I can't find any difference in parts or playability.

More than 40 years ago I saw one in a music store and decided to buy it. The sales clerk - this was back when people in music stores actually knew anything about harmonicas - tried to put me off it and get me to  buy a regular 64 instead because it was cheaper and was the same harmonica. He was quite emphatic. I chose the LA anway, and it was the best chromatic I"d ever owned up to that point. But I think I may have gotten lucky, because when I found a second hand one of the same vintage a few years ago, it was just an average 64.
