Laney is replacing CUB 10 with Cub Super 10.

The major difference seems to be in the Power tube.

I found the interenet that "EL84 is more sensitive than 6V6, therefore will overdrive more easily"

By moving from two (2) 6V6 to one (1) EL84, would we expect the sound difference to be between the Cub 10 and Cub Super 10?

CUB 10

Preamp Tube: 2 x ECC83Poweramp Tube: 2 x 6V6GT

Cub Super 10

Preamp Tube: 2 x 12AX7/ECC83

Power Tube: 1 x EL84

Hello Evets. I will answer

Hello Evets. I will answer for Skip, this is a simple one. 6V6's are generally preferred over EL84's (they sound fuller and more radiant in tone). Some EL84 amps can sound good, but we take 6V6's over EL84's as a rule of thumb. The fact that it's moved down to one tube, we'll have less volume and more distortion... two things we don't want in a small amp. Without testing, I definitely recommend that you get the older model.
