I have purchased a Hohner special20 in c as I was told this would the best one to start learning to play
in step 1 of the tutorial it states I need a harmonica in the chord of a.
Does this mean I cannot use the tutorial

As EricMina stated (thank you Eric), there is an intro lesson for those with only the C Harmonica, and it's found here http://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/c_harmonica_intro_lesson. After this lesson, if you decide to continue, you'll need to pick up an A Harmonica. Best wishes on your studies.
