OK I JUST DOWNLOADED SOME JAMTRACKS ON MY IPOD MY QUESTION IS WHEN STARTING TO PLAY WITH JT HOW DO I APPROACH DO I START WITH ROOT NOTES OR PLAYING LICKS SOMETIMES I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START I GET STUCK LISTENING TO THE JAM TRACK WHEN I DO YOUR LESSONS AND LISTEN TO YOUR JAMTRACKS I KNOW WHERE TO START AND WHEN TO END PLEASE HELP

Answer

Playing licks is the right way to go. Start Improvising Study 1, this walks you through how it's done. After you've done that for a while I also recommend that you study the Openings section of Performance Training Study 1, this will help you in recognizing where the jam track is starting... this is a common area of confusion. Have fun and take your time... this is improvising... it takes time. Have fun!
