Hi David,

Just for clarification purposes, for the IV chord, as long as there is a blow note(s) somewhere in bars 5 and 6, does it matter if I start bar 5 with a draw note say draw 4 for example. Also I do know that we can use draw 2, is it the same principle, you can use draw 2 anywhere in bars 5 and 6 and in this case you would not have to use a blow note.

Regards,

Paul

You got it, your IV7 Chord is

You got it, your IV7 Chord is C E G Bb and all of your blow notes are C E and G. The 3' is your Bb (very cool sounding note) is also a chord tone, so experiment with that. You can play anything you want on the IV7 Chord, but simply put, the more notes of the chord you include the more musical it will sound. This is a fact, it's just up to you to play something that sounds creative with those notes... that's the musical challenge of song writing/improvising.
