I'm not certain if this is the place to do this, but I wanted to say "hi" and introduce myself before diving in too deep into the forums.

My name is John I started playing at the harmonica in the '60's with a Marine Band. My dad had always played when I was growing up. He had a 64 Chromonica that he'd saved up for when he was in high school (around 1939-1940) and he carried it through WWII in the Pacific theater. I still have that harmonica, though the wood split and compromised much of the middle of the harmonica, but I purchased a new one probably 15 or 20 years ago.

But recently, I started playing again and bout a couple of new harmonicas for myself at Christmas. One of these was the Hohner Ozzy Osborne - themed harmonica, which came with a free month of lessons here. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend much time on here during that first month, but I did spend enough time to know that I needed to spend a lot more time! So, I'm signed up and have already improved my playing just from the first couple of lessons. (Now I can actually keep the beat on the metronome ... mostly.)

I don't have my old C Marine Band any more, but have acquired a few others over the past few years. A Hohner C Blues Harp, the Ozzy, the 64 Chromonica, Hohner C Comet, and a Hohner C & G Echo Harp (this past Christmas). Also a few years ago I bought a Lee Oskar which I really liked (A), and have now picked up a G and Low F since I started these lessons. Though I am uncertain if the Lee Oskar is A major or A minor ... so there's a couple more purchases in my future.

I don't know much about the "technical" aspects of music and so I will undoubtedly have a LOT of questions as I start to progress. I love to play many different kinds of music (hence the different kinds of harmonicas), but the blues style is one I've always loved, so I'm pretty excited to be here.

Anyway ... so, I'm John from Flagstaff Arizona and it's great to meet you all.

Experience? Maybe ...

Thanks for the welcome. As for my "experience" ... I have a lot of years of doing some things wrong. LOL But I do love the harmonica, and I've already improved my sound with just the first couple of lessons here.

My dad would always say, when a bolt wouldn't fit right, or parts wouldn't go together; "you're not holding your mouth right." I laughed when I realized that I wasn't holding my mouth right when playing ...
