Hi David,

When improvising, will it be ok to say mix licks from temperature and rollin rhumba even though temperature is in second position and rollin rhumba is in third position.

Regards,

Paul

Answer

Great question. No, since they are in a different position, they are in a different key. It is possible to find licks from Rollin' Rhumba that are vague enough in tonal center to work, but you'll end up working hard for little result.
