I'm confused about the Harmonica Notation Chart
In the level 3 course titled “Bending study 2 – Expression & Stopping at Bottom” there is a PDF file called “Harmonica Notation Chart [All Keys] PDF.” I was studying the key layout for the C and A harmonica. For the A harmonica you have the over draws for holes 7 and 10 listed as C#. If I follow the pattern for the other key harmonicas it looks like over draws for holes 7 and 10 on the A harmonica should be an A# and not a C#? I’m assuming I am confused and just need to be put on the right path.
In one of the exercises you said we should be saying the note in our head when we blow or draw on a hole while practicing scales. Example, 4 blow is a C note. Since we are working with an A harmonica when I blow on the 4 hole, should I be thinking of it as an A note or a C note?
Thank you for your time.
Hello brshoemaker.
Thank you for letting me know, that is a typo. Good find... I'll get that changed.
For memorization purposes, only use the C Harmonica. Since each harmonica is intervallically the same, we only need to "think" in one key of harmonica. As your studies progress you'll move from thinking of note names to scale degress, which are universal to all keys.
