Hello David, a new and i hope interesting question.I always sound like im playing pop music....not your study songs but when i play other tunes .I can hit bends but i just dont sound like im playing blues. So i have been tightening the embrochure on the whole tune to get  a more minor 3rd sound..if this makes sense.

But i dont think this is gonna help my tone playing tighter. I hear others play improv and the whole riff sounds just so blue but mine sounds like pop music with a three draw half step.

This isnt lesson related just an observation after 3 years of practice, do you know what im alluding to or am i being impationt still.

I hope this makes sense as you have seen and heard most every bitch n moan/ re i cant do this when it comes to harmonica learning.

Cheers.

Hello brianleon. Yeah, don't

Hello brianleon.

Yeah, don't tighten your embouchure... move into that 3' bend with your tongue (as you learned in your bending studies).

Work that blues scale! The blues scale has all the juicy notes in it that make blues sound bluesy. Take a look at Bending Study 4, the study song "My Blues" is full of great, bluesy licks (blues scale).

So, I recommend you work on My Blues and memorize that blues scale, jamming with your jam tracks using the scale exclusively until you can play within the scale without thinking about it.

Thank you i will start doing

Thank you i will start doing that immediately,i learned how to just hit root notes to find which harmonica to use on unfamiliar tracks, now i will also run blues scale over them as well.

Ps i finally had some face to face lessons when a found a teacher close to home im so pleased to say ten minutes in he said do you tongue block everything even hole one,i replied i learned from day one here and he was most impressed that you/we tongue block everything.

I left feeling that maybe i can learn to play after all.....cheers David.
