Hi Kinya,
Your embossing video was very helpful. However, never having played a customized harp, it's hard for me to tell if I've embossed enough. I can certainly tell when I've done too much, since it causes the reed to stick. But I always feel like it's either too much or not enough. Is there an easy way to gauge this?

Hi Alex
Yes. Try using a light box. This will make it easier to "see" the amount of brass your are pushing into the slot. The goal is to shrink the slot enough so that the least amount of light surrounds the sides and tip of the slot. If not a light box, point your reed plate towards any light source, then peer through the slots.

Let us know how this works out for you.

Your Harpsmith,
Kinya
