Hello harmonica geeks,

I need your wisdom yet once again.

I have recently equiped myself with a hohner flexcase L.

In terms of design it really meets my needs.

But the harmonicas taste oddly.

I guess it is because of the chemicals used to process the fabrics.

I know this is supposed to go sooner or later, but do you know of any tricks I could use to get ridd of the smell/taste faster?

Putting it in the laundry is not an option I guess so I was wondering if there is something I could treat it with to get the smell away.

Thanks in advance!

Neoprene gonna' be neoprene

I've seen this issue in other posts here. I don't know whether or not it's going to damage the FlexCase, but you might try filling it will cat litter (unused, of course) and then setting it outdoors, in shade, for a few days before dumping the cat litter out and rinsing it in cold water. (And I'm also wondering whether or not soaking it in beer or bourbon might give it a nicer blues-bar smell.) We're cat-less these days, but our unused bags of cat litter from earlier days have turned to be handy when oil gets spilled on the garage floor, or our plastic garbage can starts to retain too many memories. At the same time, I've owned wetsuits that NEVER stopped stinking. You may end up having to give away the FlexCase and picking up something in leather, or one of the cases Seydel makes, which don't seem to have the same issue.

What I actually tried was

What I actually tried was putting it against the fan on a high speed for a night.

It got a considerable ammount of the smell, but after reading your post I may also try to spray it with some high quality whisky. that is not at all a bad idea :)
