Hello Kinya,

So I'm wondering what exactly is required to get the hohner affiliated customizer title and is this something you could help out with as I progress towards mastery.

From the hohner site :

To bestow this revolutionary new seal of quality and guarantee that all instruments sold under the name of the HAC Program fulfil the highest possible standards of craftsmanship, we needed to establish a process of independent certification by an unimpeachable and widely accepted authority. To this end, Hohner entered into a close cooperation with Joe Filisko himself.

If their application to take part in the certification process is accepted, candidates have to submit samples of their work to Mr Filisko for in depth assessment. Hohner may not influence his decision in any way and his answer will be either "yes" or "no". Only those applicants whose work satisfies his extremely exacting standards will be granted certification as a HOHNER AFFILIATED CUSTOMIZER and may use logo and certification in their advertising. With this bold move, Hohner brings clarity for the consumer as well as recognition for the craftsmen and sets new standards in this field.

*and his answer will be either yes or no*

well that's not exactly clear on what you need exactly.

Now whilst I don't expect I can reach this level quickly or even on my first try; over the last couple of months, as I've been learning how to work on harmonicas, this has become a goal that I'd very much like to achieve.

Right now I know I'm not ready, obviously, but what should my goal be ?

Once I have an instrument that I've built and am confident with could I send it out to you for review ?

Regards,

Chris

Yes. I would be happy to

Yes. I would be happy to review your work.

Most of the affiliates I know have honed their harp tech skills on thousands of reeds over many years, and could hold court on the bandstand as well.

Yeah I know I need to get

Yeah I know I need to get seat time ( experience ). In the short term I'm trying to set up to be able to do proper reed replacement/tuning. My quality standards are very high so I expect just this to take a while to properly figure out.

I'm not really interested in selling harmonica's. It's more about having my skill at that level. I do this because I like doing this ;P

I play them too ;P. I'm probably advanced beginner at this point. (I need to take the tests for the david's level which I keep putting off to later lol)

BTW It's awesome the amount of information you guys provide. It wouldn't have been possible for me to learn as much as I have in the last year with out this site!

I look forward to sending you a harp for review ;P.

Thanks

Chris
