David,  I've been working on my 2 draw, trying different tongue, mouth, throat configurations and it still registers sharp by at least 40 cents, and typically airy though with focus the airy becomes clearer, just still sharp.  Any guidance would be appreciated -- I don't know how I will be able to do any bends as my tongue can not get any lower!  Perhaps it's because I'm tongue blocking?  (I'm a beginner working on Temperature).

Thanks!

John

Hello John. Yes, the 2 draw

Hello John.

Yes, the 2 draw can be a good challenge.

I assume you've seen/studied the video here? https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq

Have you checked the position of your tongue in front of a mirror, without the harmonic in your mouth?

You mentioned that the pitch of your 2 draw is 40 cents sharp. Did you mean to say flat (bent)? Problems with the 2 draw have to do with unintentional bending (lowering of pitch). If your reed is reading sharp, then that would be a manufacturing defect.

Laslty, bending requires that you raise your tongue, not lower... so no worries.

2 Draw

Thanks.   Yes, the FAQ video helped me get sound out of the 2 draw initially.  Then one day I couldn't for the life of me get any sound, so I taped holes 1 and 3 to eliminate tongue blocking issues and was ultimately able to get the feel for it.  But yes, I meant sharp.  Now that my sound is getting clearer, it registers about 20 cents, but so does the 3 blow as well as other holes.  I'm not sure it's a defect as my C harmonica has similar results.  A harmonica is the Crossover, C is the Marine Band.  I'll keep working on it, and already I am able to play the 2 draw much faster when moving through the song.  Thanks again.

I have no idea what the difference because I am a beginner  but I have found it extremely difficult to get a clear loud single 2 draw note using my crossover. But with my Special 20 I can get one easily loud and clear.

Hello Wingnutz. Are those

Hello Wingnutz.

Are those two models of harmonica different keys?

For the fix, go to https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq and watch the video video titled "My 2 draw and/or high-end notes sounds flat, airy or not at all!"
