Im a beginner And I'm not sure If the Reed is stuck or if I'm drawing wrong. When if i go to draw #3 I get the G note on 3 blow and 2 draw according to a tuner that I downloaded on my phone.

Hello Jason, welcome

Hello Jason, welcome aboard!

So I know how best to respond to you, please let me know the following:

  1. Is the Key signature that is printed on the package "C"?
  2. What make and model is your harmonica?
  3. Have you viewed and tried any of David Barrett's tutorials yet?
  4. What is the name of the Tuner that you downloaded onto your phone?

Yes the key is "C" The model is the MS-Series Blues Harp. And yes I've gone through the tutorials. I am working on the first study song. The Tuner that I'm using is called Harmonica Tuner on Android.

Hi Jason, the MS (Modular

Hi Jason, the MS (Modular System) group of harmonicas are built with slightly larger reeds (read: beasty) than those found on the Hohner Special 20, Rocket, Marine Band et.al., (the reeds come from Hohner's line of Chromatic harmonicas I believe). This also makes your harmonica slightly larger. Here's my thinking, you have two good choices:

  1. Retire the Blues Harp for the moment and pick up a Hohner Rocket or Special 20 harmonica, or
  2. Lower the gaps of both your Blow #3 and Draw#3. There is a symbiotic relationship between two reeds in the same chamber, therefore, it is wise to adust as a pair. If you are handy with small parts "under the hood", check out: https://www.bluesharmonica.com/harp_tech_study_4_reed_gapping

Let us know what your decision was!
