I have a couple marine band harmonicas with blown reeds , while looking on the internet I was surprised of the coast for screws and reeds. The question is - is it worth repairing the harps or just replacing ? How many of you do your own repairs? I have replaced reeds in my lee oscars but the hohners seem to take some effort ?

Reed replacement

Are you talking about whole reedplates or individual reeds?

If you keep your dead harps, you have a reed supply -providing you don't always blow the same reed on the same key of harp.

Why don't you ask this same question on the Ask Harp Tech Expert Kinya Pollard here? Kinya can give you the most complete and accurate information on the available tools and options.

I'll do that . I am talking

I'll do that . I am talking reed plates and with the hohner it seems like you have to drill and put screws in. I blow less reeds now and I would have to figure out how to do individual reeds ? That could be fun.

Screws and nails

Most Hohner harmonicas already have reedplates fastened with screws. Only the traditional Marine Band (not the Marine Band Deluxe or the Marine Band Crossover) still have reedpaltes fatened with nails. You can relinstall with nails of you're good at getting them snug again.
