There was a fun harmonica performance on the TV show Americas Got Talent last night by Brothers Gage. I enjoyed it but was disappointed when it was time for the judges to speak. Sofia said when she heard the act was going to be a harmonica piece, she was dreading it.  Then Howie said he always thought harmonica was the most annoying instrument in the world. In the end all 4 judges liked what they heard and voted the duo through. I found it interesting and sad that 2 out of the 4 mentioned their dislike of harmonica music.  Wonder how many others out there feel the same?  Oh well - harp on!

Don't be offended by their prejudice.  They are far removed form what I call entertainment most of the time.  I was indifferent about the harmonica. Decided to take lessons and I only will love it when I can play the frigin thing. May take years and it pisses me off that young kids get up there and play like that.

Unfortunate prejudice

"Harmonica" and annoying" were used together when my all-harmonica band was on AGT a few years back. But that phrase came from Howard Stern, who was on fire with nastiness that day. But Howie, before we even played a note, told an imaginary story of getting on an airplane for a five-hour flight with a harmonica and an instruction book and looking at the look of dread on his fellow passenger's face. And then he buzzed us in the middle of our performance even though we were playing well.

So yeah, it's real. Kudos to Brothers Gage for succesfully running the gamut. Tin Sandwich was not so fortunate.

After 10 year

Thanks for the heads up. These kids have been playing for over 10 years both are very committed and obviously spend a lot of time practicing and playing. Good to see young people committed. Well done brothers grange.

Interesting Winslow. Congrats

Interesting Winslow. Congrats for even being on the show, voted through or not. Any chance you have link to that performance or could I find it on youtube?  What was the name of your all harmonica band?
