Hi David. I bought the Piedmont Blues set of seven harps as my first harmonica purchase. The challenge I find right off the bat is that there seems to be a few holes that are very difficult to get a note through, such as on the A harp hole 2 on the draw; the B harp hole 2 on the draw; etc. It seems that it is only on draw notes but each harp has the same issue but with different holes.

I have rinsed each of the harps and let them air dry for more than 24 hours before picking them up again but the issue was not corrected. Is there a simple fix for this or did I just buy the wrong harps?'

Thanks!

Hello TMBerman. I assume

Hello TMBerman. I assume you’re within your first year of training? If so, what you’re speaking of is a common issue for new players. I have a video to help you with your technique. Visit https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq and watch the first video.

Hi David. Yes...

Yes, I am actually within my first month of learning to play the harmonica. Thank you for the instructional video. It seems odd to me, being new, that a simple drop of the back of the tongue would have so much impact on a simple draw note and, yes, I can see that it may take me a while to train my tongue to drop more easily and on cue. But, at least we have your years of experience and this educational system to learn from. Thanks!

I'm happy to help TMBerman.

I'm happy to help TMBerman. You'll find when you get to the bending lessons that your tongue location in your mouth makes a huge difference in pitch and tone... playing the harmonica is pretty much all about what you do with your tongue (the front for various techniques and the back for bending).
