C harp, G harp

Azul is in 4th position, A minor on a C harp.

Tuff is second position, D on a G harp.

Charlie doesn't switch harps and positions during the tunes, either, maybe because these were originally instructional recordings.

Winslow...so in 4th pos, the major scale, has an over-blow in it, correct? Charlie doesn't use that note in the scale on this cut, for, I don't think Charlie utilizes this technique in his play. (I may be wrong)
I looked up the Instruction book on Amazon and found that it is quite spendy>>>like, $100.00 used!!! What is the skinny on the price thing? Thanks, Tommy Hutch

No OBs needed, and look for a better price

Charlie is playing in a minor key. The minor scale in 4th position uses the same notes as the major scale in 1st position, so no overblows are needed. However, the home note in 4th position is Draw 3 bent down 2 semitones, which is why you hear Charlie lingering on that bent note during Azul.

People ask high prices for rare items. Doesn't mean they get them. But aim high, and maybe you'l get closer to the target. Maybe someone will be willing to pay $75, or even the full $100. You'll never know if you don't ask.

But if you're buying and don't have money to burn, and you really do want the book, shop around and be patient. Someone else may offer that old space-consuming piece of junk that no-one could possibly want for a much lower price, or you may stumble on it in a used bookstore.
