Hi David,
In viewing a bunch of harp players on YouTube I noticed the absence of hand wa wa's. Is that a technique we lose when using a bullet. Is there a substitute such as tongue flutters?

Answer

You're correct, we generally don't use many hand techniques while playing amplified... BUT, they do exist, you just don't see them very well... all one has to do is relax their hands (slightly more leakage) and the tone changes dramatically. So, there are hand techniques going on, they're just more in the realm of micro movements.
