David - I've searched all over because I think somewhere there is information on the different grooves (maybe at Masterclass sessions???) Some are obvious (rhumba, shuffle) but I'm trying to sort out in my mind some of the others. Can you point me in the right direction - one of your books??? Thanks

Answer

There are no books on the subject. I did teach this at the Masterclass. I plan on doing some lessons on the subject down the road. In the mean time go through your jam tracks and see what they call the various grooves. The Blues Bass Essential Grooves, Blues Bass Method, Blues Drums Method and the Blues Guitar Method Level 1 in the School of the Blues Lesson Series would be a great choice to dig into this... learn it from the band's perspective.

Which Session?

Thanks David. I've started to go through all my backing tracks that have named the groove. I recorded the general sessions and have the notes from your sessions. Which one covered the topic? I'm glad you mentioned it because I really did think that I had been introduced to knowing the different grooves - was it in the Live Performance Training - instructions to the band?? If it was there's nothing in the notes and I'll keep working on working from the bands perspective. Thanks

Another "duhh" moment

Or maybe a "senior's moment". When I got around to exploring the topic, I remembered I did purchase the "Essential Blues Bass Grooves" and it has exactly what I was after, so away I go!!!

Geez, so much to learn, so many materials and so little time ...........
