Hi Kinya

I get that comb and reedplate flattening is what is needed to produce an airtight harp with MB style  combs but what about plastic recessed reedplates like lee oscar where you cant sand the comb flat. Is there a gasket material you would reccomend? Micropore?

Thanks

Hi Chas, thanks for checking

Hi Chas, thanks for checking in with us.

As a standard practice, I flatten the draw reed plates on all "index" plastic comb type harmonicas, such as Lee Oskar, and Hohner Special 20, Rockets.

Of course, unless one is willing (read: sick in the head) to remove all the reeds on the blow plate, rarely is this process performed on the blow reed plate  (on any harmonica ;o)

Gasket material is not necessary. Instead lower the gap on the free end of your reeds. REMEMBER TO WORK IN PAIRS--Blow and Draw reeds of the same hole.

Thank you Kinja. Regarding

Thank you Kinja. Regarding flattening blow reed plates what do you think of Andrew Zajac's 'F' tool. It seems expensive for what it is but cheap for what it can do - if , that is, it does a good job.
