Dave, I saw that you wrote about Finale and how you use it for the standup bass practice. I downloaded the trial version. How do you setup Finale so you can write the Harmonica Tab?

I could not find a template etc. to do this.

Thank you so much.

Cool, it's a great program. There is no setup for harmonica TAB, I use the Lyrics option after I put in the standard notation to put the TAB in. The articulations (dips, etc.) are from the Articulation pallet.

Finale Software Question

David, when you are digging in to your Upright Bass practice, how does the Finale software tie in?

I believe you are monitoring your notes, etc, but how does this work? It looks like you can import in midis etc.

Do you first write the song, and then somehow does it monitor you while you play?

I found out that my U block aides me in moving from a 3 4 aka first octave lick in Split, by having me just
1
then point the tip of my tongue down into hole number 2. It then allows me to block 2 and 3 holes to get the 1 4 split.

I am trying to remember where to point my tongue tip. It should be easy, just point the next hole in for eg. 1 4 I should point to the 2nd hole, but a old guy like me needs a crutch to get over the hump.

I can use Finale to rewrite the existing tab for a practice sheet to have me tongue tip placed appropriately.

The movement from a standard tongue block to the Ublock is simplier with the Ublock. I just drop down and over a little. I want to switch back to conventional later on.

I take the method for the bass (which doesn't have a CD) and notate it, page for page as I progress through the method. I can then have Finale play back what I wrote, at whichever tempo makes sense for me at my level at that time... increasing the speed as I gain proficiency. It does not monitor me.
