Hi fellow harpers.
I’m new to Harp playing and have just purchased my first amp; it’s a scx2. Would love to know if anyone has this amp and could throw me a few settings that they think work well with it. This would be a great help because if I sound bad I can blame my playing and not the amp setup. If it makes a difference I have a Shure green bullet 520DX mic.
I’m not interested in modifying the amp so please no recommendations for speaker and tube mods.
I got the idea that channel one is good to use with treble down and bass up. Will changing middle up or down also help (via Fuse).
What channel one settings work well?
What channel two Voices and settings are good?
Should delay and or reverb be set before amp or post amp?

Here's mine. I got one a year

Here's mine. I got one a year ago and it's worked good - although now I'm switching over to a Kalamazoo for my practice/small amp. You'll also want something big like a reissue Bassman eventually for gigging.

Anyways, for the Super Champ:
Put the bass up all the way and treble down all the way (or pretty close). Use the Volume 1 channel (no voicing, white button out). I like reverb best (personal preference) and I have the fx level to about 2.5. If you have the white Ch Select button out, the other 3 knobs won't do anything so don't worry about them. Turn your mic up all the way and adjust the volume on the amp (volume 1). I have it around 3 but I have a different mic than you.

Answer

Hi,

I have the same mic. Here is the setting I use to record my submissions via the USB port.

CH SELECT : button down
Gain : 6
Volume 2 : 2-3 (up to you and your neighborhood)
Voice : 4 (Bassman emulation)
Treble : 1
Middle : from 3 to 6 (tuned with Fender Fuse)
Bass : 10
F/X Adjust : 4
F/x : Fender Spring Reverb or Reverb + delay (depends on the song)
Presence : 6 (with Fender Fuse)

All the best ,

Eddy

Ah, cool, I'm glad to see

Ah, cool, I'm glad to see Eddy's post. I was gonna say something from the XD angle, but I don't know how different the X2 is. I know it has a different preamp chip, but I expect the voice models overlap in some ways.
The Bassman model I know sounds great but I found it a little prone to feedback, compared to the clean blackface voice, which was the default 'clean channel' voice on the XD. That's the voice I always use in a live situation on the XD. I think it's cool to use it on channel 2 where you have control over the gain/volume relationship, but i know DB recommended the clean channel on his video...that video is more of an introduction than a comprehensive study though ;0)
But the X2 sounds like a somewhat different pot of sea creatures, so I'll be quiet again now...
