Hi. I have done some mods on my Fender pro jr:

1. speaker - Weber 10A125-O

2. power tubes - 2pair of el84s

3. preamp tubes -  V1 -  12au7 and  V2 -  12ay7

I can play it on volym 6 - 7 depending on the mic, and  I´m using a feedback killer.I have Non-Adjustable Fixed Bias, and the tubs are running hot.

Is it possible  to reduse the gain even more but not so much that the tone gets bad,Suggestions?

And the power tubes are a bit bright, suggestions on a good pair of power tubes?

Thanks J.A

I got a tip to replace R30

I got a tip to replace R30 -33K resistor with a 10k and a 50K potentiometer in serie. I dont know what that will do? Anyone who knows?

Hello Jonathon- I would say that the Sovtek-brand EL-84s are the most consistent and reliable, but you should have a back-up pair because the tubes just won't last as long in the Pro Junior as say, 6L6s in old Fender. If the amp blows fuses or sounds weak, try another pair.  I wouldn't suggest any other mods on this amp. Your "tip" involves making the bias adjustable.  I'd pass on that mod unless you are already great at soldering and circuitry.

Thank you for a quick answer.

Thank you for a quick answer. I did wrote wrong on power tubes i have el84, sorry. I will definitely try Sovtek, I've been reading some good stuff about them.

Do you think it is a god idea to make the bias adjustable? Replace R30 -33K resistor with a 10k and a 50K potentiometer in serie? I will not do this my self, I will let a amp tech do it.

Jonathon- If the work was carefully and professionally done, it would be fine idea.  Still, I'd say not essential.....
