David, I was reading a question in the Gear" section of the Forum concerning Gary's Egnator setup and I was wondering what the best speaker cabinet to try to get to go along with the amp head. does the cabinet have to be open in the back like say a Fender Tube amp or can it be enclosed, etc Any tips or suggestions, I haven't made any purchases syet, just shopping around..Thanks

Answer

That's a tough one... it really gets down to a mix of the amp and the speaker. In my experience, for harp, an open back tends to sound best. The speaker makes the most difference. I like the Blue Frame Eminence speakers that are in the Bassman (Gary just put one in his Blues Jr and sounds nice). I have had good experiences with MegaTone's tenderized Jensen Jets in multiple cabinets. If I owned the head, I would order a cabinet from MegaTone, all of their cabinets I've played sound great.
