(I have posted in general discussions but I think it might be better here)

Hello Everybody!

First of all I'd like to thank David for the amazing work he has done and the method he uses because I am not just learning so fast but enjoying every class I am taking.

My question is related to the lesson "Dynamics". When I try to control the volume it seems to me very hard to mantain the breath for a long time. and not only that but when I start from loud to soft seems impossible to me to make a plane/constant breath while I am decreasing the sound, and so not being able to avoid doing a kind of "tremolo" with diaphragm.

I am not sure if I have explained it well.

Is that normal? what am I doing wrong? Any tips to improve the sound?

Thanks to everyone

Thank you Joak, I'm glad that you're enjoying the material. It's possible that your nose is open while playing (this will really mess with your ability to hold a note). Go to this page https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq and watch the video titled "I run out of breath so easily!" Give this a look and report back.

Hi again David!

I am sorry because I did no watch that and I am pretty sure you are tired of sending links to those FAQ videos to your students hahaha. Despite of I have been trying the technique and playing with diaphragm I think you are right and I was not closing the nose properly.

When I mantain the blow, does it have to be loud? Because when I do it has to be low if I want to keep the air flow till the end.

I have given it a try these last days and it is quite hard, I could barely reach the 30 secs. Anyway I will keep practising and I will tell you if I still have problems mantaining the note without not doing "sound waves".

Thanks!

Okay, good, we’re on the right track. No, it doesn’t need to be loud. Keep at it, you’ll get it.

Amazing!

So my question now would be: can I move ahead and do something else while I am performing the skill because it's going to take me long time or do you recommend me to stop here til' I completely get it?

Thanks again.

Yeah, move ahead. Take a

Yeah, move ahead. Take a sticky note and write "Dynamics!" and stick it on your current material... this will be a reminder to use it in your playing.
