Hello Gary. Yes, each scale is for the home chord in each position.

You can also explore playing the scales on the chords (For example... you're in 2nd Position on a C Harmonica = Key of G... use G blues scale for I7, C blues scale for IV7, and D blues scale for V7).

In regards to your piano player friend, you don't need to change blues scales, you change harmonicas. If the band is in Eb, then yes, you would just play your Ab harmonica in 2nd position. When keys change, you change harmonicas and do the same scale movement. Keep going through the music theory and improvising lessons, this, and much more, is covered in there,
