Hey, Kinya enjoying the harp tech lessons, very informative and complete. Looking forward to the next series.

I have a question which you may or may not have touched on so forgive me if you have. Does it matter which order I tune my harp in? For example if I followed your lessons I would tune the reeds before I gapped them, is that the idea or does it matter?

Thanks!

Mark

Hi Mark, When making "modest"

Hi Mark,
When making "modest" adjustments in your reed gaps, tuning first will be alright.

If you are making "major" adjustments to your reed gaps, however, I recommend tuning as your last step. The reason for this is that the molecular structure of the reed material can be destabilized during the gapping process, causing your reeds to go out of tune.

Check it out and let me know how it goes for you.

Your Harpsmith,
Kinya
