Hi David,

The lowest pitch on a given harmonica is the 1 blow, in that particular harmonicas major scale's first note.  What are the lowest to the highest pitch of harmonicas (in order from A to G)?  I am getting confused thinking that Do, Re, Mi is low to high and thinking that A is Do, Re is B, etc., so A should be lower than G.  Thanks for any help with my understanding of this.

Dean

Hello Dean. A note can sound

Hello Dean. A note can sound in many octaves. So, any note, such as B, can be in a lower octave, or higher octave. Think of pitches as starting below that of human hearing, continuing to a note higher than our hearing. The 88 keys of a piano is a good example. If you look at a note chart for a piano, you would see that B note appear many times, from left of the piano (very low) to the right (very high). Which octave you choose is up to what sounds good to you for a particular passage.

With this said, here is a list of the most common harmonicas used (from lowest at left, to highest at right).

Low-F, G, A, Bb, C, D, F

After this set, drop me a note again and I'll give you a larger list.
