DI Box
Hi Greg,
I hope you're well.
In a recent mic workshop with you and Dave, I asked about playing my HB-52 Harp Blaster through my Lone Wolf Harp Attack pedal and directly to the PA. Because of mismatched impedance from mic/pedal (high) to PA (low), you said I'd need a DI BOX to match the signal from mic/pedal to PA.
So doing some research, the Radial Pro DI seems to the way to go (https://www.long-mcquade.com/5588/Pro-Audio-Recording/Mic-Preamps-DI-Boxes/Radial/Pro-DI.htm).
I just wanted to validate with you that this passive box would be ok.
Or is there another you'd recommend? I looked into Lone Wolf's Little Red, but my local distributor here says he won't be getting any for some time.
Would love to hear you're thoughts!
Thx,
Eric
Ya know, I didn't notice that. That could indeed be a usefujl feature, not so much for a hot pedal (pedal output is usually adjustable) but because, as a rule, microphones are much hotter than electric guitars. Amps that haven't been adjusted to lower the gain specifically for harmonica microphones tend to be unruly from a feedback perspective.
You may find that using the pad will help tame an unruly amp. In the case of Lone Wolf's product line, they offer that as a separate pedal called the Mojo Pad.
Hi Eric P.
Wanna' put in a good word for the Lone Wolf Little Red. I have a "backpack" system that is made up of a Lone Wolf Harp Attack, TC Electronics Echobrain delay pedal and Lone Wolf Little Red DI. (Plus an MXR mini iso-brick and an extension chord to plug in at the venue, so I don't worry about batteries in the Harp Attack or Echobrain.) This sytem has worked great for me at various venues where I didn't want to drag my amp around. And unless you need a through system where you're going into both the PA and an on-stage amp (a cool feature of the Radial Pro), the Little Red is all you need.
Are you in the USA? If so, you can order directly from Lone Wolf. And owner Randy Landry and his crew there are all really good people.
Hope the DI-to-PA system works for you. When performing with an amp, I usually set it up at right angles to myself so that the amp's my own on-stage monitor (with it also being mic'd by the sound tech into the board for the house system). When using my "backpack" system into the PA, I usually make sure the sound tech has me up enough in the stage monitors to hear myself. In the endless war against loud guitarists and drummers, the sound tech is your best friend.

Hi, EricI'm sure that DI box would be fine, but so is this one, which is half the size and half the price and available from a harmonica-savvy vendor:https://www.lonewolfblues.com/products/little-redPretty sure you can order it direct from Lone Wolf....?
