I just watched the photo montage that David did on building the 1x10 cabinet.  I love the style and that he got it done using scraps he had on hand.  Thanks for sharing that, I really enjoyed it.

That caught my interest on a couple of levels.  I'm just starting to learn blues harp, I have wanted to learn for a long time.  Just took a global pandemic to get me moving I guess.  (Side note: tongue blocking...really looking forward to being over the hump on that.  O.M.G.)

I play guitar, mostly country blues.  I'm not great but I enjoy it a lot.  I also like to build stuff and really dig vintage gear. Tools, cars, instruments amps.  So I've been binge watching the Skip Simmons interviews and dreaming about Masco heads and Premier combos.

I recently build a 5E3 tweed deluxe amp 1x12 with the "Dumble" modifications - but it is WAY too loud for home or even jam sessions at work.  It would be fun to build a small 5-10 watt amp the would work for home and jam sessions at work.  I started playing with an idea that was stuck in my head for a design last night.  It is a mashup of a Masco control panel (still very rough - I ran out of time at that point) and a late 1940s Arvin space heater.  The way I design stuff like this is super iterative.  I do the main physical parts (in this case the 10" Weber speaker) then work on. The proportions and main styling areas, and keep tweaking as I go.  I'll do a render and then stare at it for a day until I figure out what isn't right and update it.  All of which to say this is still early and will go through several iterations before it is "done".  The circuit will probably be a single ended 6l6, simple, low gain, aimed at low tones and not mid-scoop like most guitar amps.  We'll see.

Anyway, enough of my rambling.  Thanks for sharing your cabinet build David!

For some reason the original

For some reason the original image wasn't loading.  I spent the morning mocking up the Masco-ish control design.  Now I need to get going on practicing...

Cabinet build

I’ve been away for a year or so. I’m not sure what this specifically refers to but I’m interested to see it. Maybe it’s going to be obvious when I look about a bit. Something in equipment section.

Edit: ok, found it. Yes, cool.
